Prospective Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) President Ato Van-Ess has detailed the reason he and a handful of veteran basketball personalities have decided to run for various positions in the upcoming elections.
Alex Kukula, Iddrisu Ayambire and Aurora Commodore-Toppar are on Team Van-Ess and vying for the Vice President -Administration and Finance, Vice President-Technical and Developmental Programmes and Treasurer respectively.
The GBBA Congress that is set to determine who becomes the next President of the Association is slated for the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center in Accra on Saturday, October 30.
Former Western Regional Basketball Association (WBA) Chairman Van-Ess made this revelation in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com where the former player stated:
“We (me and my team) believe that it is time for us to give back to basketball; basketball has done a lot for us…I am now in the position to work with others to support the game, to support the players, to support everybody who is interested in playing basketball.”
He also mentioned the decision to run for the Presidency was done in consultation with other stakeholders in the Ghana basketball fraternity.
