The Ghana Army Men’s Basketball Team acted in self defence after getting attacked physically by TUSK Foundation Head Coach Thomas Amediku according to Ghana Army Sports Officer Major Dickson Agalga.
He made this statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com in the wake of an alleged brawl that erupted between the two teams after TUSK clinched a 61-59 win over Ghana Army.
The game was a 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Regular Season matchup played out at the Prisons Court in Cantonments in Accra on Thursday, October 7.
After stating and describing Amediku’s leading role in the alleged brawl, Major Agalga went on to state his team’s involvement in the incident was reactionary. (Click highlighted text to view story)
“Why did he (Amediku) arrogate power to himself, move from his table to our bench to attack the players. So whatever happened there was in self defence he came to attack us and if you attack us we cannot sit down and clap hands for him we fought back we are soldiers we fought back we were able to repel the attack. They came to attack us and we repelled the attack in self defence. We didn’t go to his table we didn’t go to them ask anybody” he said.
The matter is before the ABL Disciplinary Committee.
