Ghana Air Force Men’s Basketball Team was way off its best in a 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Regular Season matchup earlier today.
The team lost 35-45 to Ghana Fire Service at the Prisons Court in Cantonments in Accra as part of the final round of games before the postseason commences.
Match Report
Gilbert Wood gave Fire a 15-12 lead with 2:43 minutes in the second quarter. Ofori Sarpong and Bright Yeboah traded baskets off jumpers to end the first half; Fire led 17-14.
Michael Dzandu for Air Force scored off a pass from Abdul-Basit Sowah after Bashiru Moro scored a point from the free throw line. Air Force missed opportunities from the free throw line to take the game’s lead.
Daniel Laryea and Wood scored three pointers to give Fire a 24-16 lead with 3:43 minutes left. Air Force Swingman Nana Tuffour had to leave the game due to a bruised lip.
Clement Tetteh stole the ball and assisted Wood’s layup on a fastbreak to give Fire a 30-20 lead. Sowah scored for Air Force to close out the third quarter trailing 22-30.
Fire went on a 9-6 run midway through the quarter with Moro scoring four points. Tetteh and Okoe scored for Fire in the run. Nuamarh Owusu, Sowah and Kudoka Thompson scored for Air Force in the run.
Air Force trailed 28-39 with 4:17 minutes remaining but Emmanuel Lamptey scored three points from the free throw line to put Air Force in the 30 point column. Owusu fed Thompson for a fast break layup with Moro getting a handful of points for Fire to conclude the game.
