Two games into the 2021-2022 Romanian Basketball League Regular Season, Targu Jiu is yet to record a win; the team lost in its latest outing against Voluntari.

Voluntari claimed an 83-69 win over Targu with Ghanaian-American Forward Bashir Ahmed delivering another solid performance in as many games.

The 28 year old produced 13 points, five rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes as a starter; in a 58-73 loss to Craiova to open the season, Ahmed filled the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds, a steal, a block and an assist in 28 minutes.

Against Voluntari, the swingman converted five of 10 two point shot attempts and converted one of a trio of three point shot attempts.

Ahmed played at St. John’s University before turning pro

He was the third lead scorer in the game for Targu as teammates Kevin Allen and Porter Troupe scored 18 points and 16 points respectively.

Despite the poor results, Ahmed is off to a brilliant start after having trouble with playing time and offensive touches at his previous stops in Europe.
