Basketballghana.com can confirm talented Ghanaian prospect Phillipina Kyei has committed to play basketball at the University of Oregon.
After an extensive process that had the 6 foot 8 inch left handed Center receive athletic scholarship offers from Maryland, Louisville and Texas, Kyei committed to the Oregon Women’s Basketball program. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
Listed to start her college career later this season, Kyei is the tallest player ever in Oregon’s Women’s basketball program and is set to wear Jersey Number 15 for the 2021-2022 season.
Kyei moved from Ghana to Canada with her parents Patricia Kyei and Nana Appiah and only started playing basketball three years ago in Calgary. The move from Ghana to Canada took place four years ago.
She enrolled at Crestwood Prep and is considered an athletic Center with a 7 foot wingspan who can already dunk. 2020 WNBA Second overall pick Satou Sabally played at Oregon before getting drafted to the Dallas Wings. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
Kyei forms part of a rising number of highly touted Ghanaian Canadian players including Arizona State University’s Enoch Boakye and University of South Carolina’s Laeticia Amihere.
