Basketballghana.com can report Ghanaian-American Small Forward Bashir Ahmed put in an encouraging performance on his debut for new team Targu Jiu.

Ahmed started in Targu’s 58-73 loss to Craiova in the Romanian Basketball League opening round of games in the 2021-2022 Regular Season serving as the team’s main offensive threat all game.

The 28 year old registered 14 points, nine rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 28 minutes as he converted two of four attempts from two point range.

Ahmed converted two of three shot attempts from three point range and scored four of eight free throws to lead Targu in scoring in the contest.

Kevin Allen was the only Targu Jiu player to score in double figures as he registered 12 points and added 13 rebounds. Ahmed had the most offensive rebounds in the game.

The former St. John’s University player moved to Romania this offseason after spending time in the NBA Gatorade League with Sioux Falls SkyForce, Hungary and Bosnia since turning pro in 2018.

Targu ranks bottom in the 16 team league standings.
