Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian-American Small Forward Bashir Ahmed has been among the top 10 performers in the Romanian Basketball League following the conclusion of games in the opening week.
Ahmed played a starring role in his debut game for Targu Jiu despite Targu losing 58-73 to Craiova this past weekend. Bashir moved to the Romanian club this past offseason.
The 6 foot 6 inch Forward registered 14 points, nine rebounds, an assists, a steal and a block in 28 minutes as a starter. He converted four of eight free throws and converted two of three shots from three point range.
He led all players in the game with five offensive rebounds and ranked ninth overall in the Top Performers list by EuroBasket; Eric Copes of Rapid got the number one spot after producing 30 points and 19 rebounds in Rapid’s 84-77 win over Foscani.
Ahmed moved to Romania this offseason after spending time in the NBA Gatorade League with Sioux Falls SkyForce, Hungary and Bosnia since turning pro in 2018.
Targu ranks bottom in the 16 team league standings.
