Basketballghana.com gathers Ghanaian-Italian International Shooting Guard/Small Forward Awudu Abass is likely to miss the remainder of the 2021-2022 season after suffering an ACL injury.

The injury occurred in Virtus Bologna’s 102-88 win over Trento in the opening week of the Italian Basketball League. Abass played just two minutes in the contest before suffering the knee injury and forced to exit the contest.

“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna SpA announces that Awudu Abass, following the injury that occurred during the first day of the championship, was subjected to instrumental tests which revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee. The player has already started the pre-operative process and recovery times will be communicated following the surgery, scheduled shortly” the team officially communicated.

This development comes on the back of Abass producing a solid debut season to aid Bologna clinch the 2020-2021 League title; Bologna won the Super Cup prior to the start of the present season.

Abass signed a three year deal with Bologna this offseason.
