The outcome of the tight matchup was decided late in the second half after Icons edged the first and second quarters 17-16 and 28-27 respectively.
Icons young roster used its athleticism to score points to create enough separation at the end of the third quarter (39-35) to build on for the win.
First it was Abdul-Rahim Allotey’s putback dunk then Carl Nii Quartey’s athletic finish mixed with a couple of blocks from the likes of Bernard Dushie and Allotey.
Paul Adzowu produced significant plays off the bench to steer Icons away from trouble as Navy threatened to mount a serious challenge through lead marksman Ashietey Ollenu.
Alexis Yussif and Fayad Muslim scored late on for Navy but the Alexander Tindani led team couldn’t claw its way back in a contest sharp shooter Selasi Wornyo had an underwhelming performance.
