Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian-Italian Internationals Awudu Abass and David Cournooh were in action in the opening round of games in the 2021-2022 Italian Serie A Basketball League Regular Season.
Cournooh played a starring role in Vanoli Cremona’s 71-88 loss to Reyer Cremona while Abass played a minor role in Virtus Bologna’s impressive 102-88 win over Trento.
Abass played a cameo role in the win for the defending league champions who had new coach Sergio Scariolo record his first win with Bologna.
Despite the loss, veteran Guard Cournooh scored 13 points and registered four rebounds in 25 minutes as the Shooting Guard with Malcolm Miller and Matteo Spagnolo scoring 15 points apiece.
It is a strong start on an individual level for Cournooh who is in the second and final year of his contract with Cremona after leaving Bologna.
Abass had a similar slow start to life last season before playing a key role off the bench to help Bologna win the league title. It was Abass’ second league title in his career.
