Basketballghana.com can report the fifth edition of the StreetBall At The Mall Basketball Tournament will commence on October 16 at the Kumasi City Mall in Ghana’s Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.
This year’s tournament is a two day event with competition scheduled to end on October 17; 10 teams are slated to compete in the tournament.
Asawasi Comets are the reigning champions after bagging the 2020 title thanks to a 41-29 win over Asafo Klicks; both teams are likely to return to the tournament.
The 2020 edition was under the threat of cancellation due to the emergence of the COVID 19 pandemic that enveloped several countries including Ghana. Last year’s edition was one of the earliest sports events in basketball to take place in the aftermath of the first wave of infections in the West African nation.
A handful of teams that compete in the Kumasi Basketball League are likely to feature in this year’s edition including 2019 Champions Ayeduase Snipers.
StreetBall At The Mall is organized by ClockWork Brand; ClockWork organizes the Kumasi Basketball League.
