Basketballghana.com can report Ghanaian-Italian International Small Forward/ Shooting Guard Awudu Abass has scored 20 points in a preseason tourney finale.

Virtus Bologna lost 111-112 to Panathinaikos from Greece in a battle for third place in the MagentaSport Cup preseason Tournament with Abass pouring in a team leading scoring performance.

Ioannis Papapetrou hit the winning shot in second overtime to seal the win for the Greek side; Ghana Power Forward Ben Bentil played two seasons with Panathinaikos before moving to Turkey this offseason.

Marco Belinelli and Kevin Hervey scored 20 points and 19 points respectively for Virtus while three players other than Ioannis scored in double figures for Panathinaikos.

Prior to the game, Virtus lost 66-90 to Bayern Monaco with Abass scoring seven points and veteran Guard Belinelli scoring 17 points.

Bologna is scheduled to play Tortona in its opening game in the Italian Super Cup on Saturday, September 18. The Super Cup is at the quarterfinal stage with Bologna looking to win its first title of the 2020-2021 season.

Bologna won last season’s league title and Abass signed a three year contract extension to prolong his stay with the team.
