A handful of top performers at the just ended 2021 FIBA African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) have been named to the tournament’s All Star Team.

Tunisia beat Ivory Coast 78-75 in the final game to lift its second continental title in a row; Senegal finished in third place ahead of Cape Verde.

The five man team unsurprisingly made it to the All Star team with Tunisia duo Makram Ben Romdhane and Omar Abada leading the group.

Cape Verde’s 7 foot 3 inch Center Walter Tavares, Senegal Power Forward Gorgui Dieng and Ivory Coast Forward Matt Costello made it to the Team.

Ben Romdhane was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament after averaging 12 points and 7.6 rebounds for Tunisia in six games.

Dieng had to settle for another bronze medal as he averaged a tournament leading 20 points and 10.5 rebounds per game; Point Guard Abada averaged 12.4 points and 4.8 assists.

Playing at his first AfroBasket, Costello excelled by averaging 16.2 points and 9.2 rebounds while Tavares led all players in blocks (four) and rebounds (14.2) while averaging 16.8 points in the tournament.
