West African nations make up half of the roster of nations due to compete in the 2021 FIBA African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) Quarterfinals.

Four of the eight qualified nations from the sub region have made it to the second phase of the knockout stage of the competition taking place at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

Guinea, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Cape Verde are representing the sub region in the quarterfinal matchups that commence later today. Powerhouse Nigeria missed out on progressing to the quarters after a surprising 68-80 loss to Uganda.

Senegal takes on Angola AT 13:00 GMT while Ivory Coast plays Guinea today at 16:00 GMT before Tunisia plays South Sudan and Cape Verde plays Uganda on Thursday, September 2.

Guinea has had a stellar run in the 30th edition of the continental championship by bagging its first wins in 36 years to make it to this stage.

Senegal, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast and Tunisia are yet to lose a game in the competition.
