Basketballghana.com can report Tudu Galaxy has secured a 20 point win over Kaneshie SwanLakers in the 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.
The win was secured via a 73-53 result recorded earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments in Accra, Ghana. It was the last of three scheduled games at the venue today. (Click highlighted text to view results)
Veteran Selorm Kuwornu scored the game’s first points for Kaneshie. Both teams traded baskets with Tudu Bismark Addai scoring back to back baskets to give Galaxy a 10-5 lead with 6:33 minutes left in the quarter.
Swanlakers’ Michael Smith scored a three pointer but Galaxy John Lawrence responded with a tough layup. Swanlakers trailed 10-15 with 2:25 minutes remaining.
Davy Webber blocked Divine Quartey’s layup attempt; Kaneshie trailed Galaxy 13-18 at the end of the first quarter.
Kaneshie’s Webber scored the second quarter’s first points from the free throw line. Galaxy’s Raymond Affram stole the ball and scored on the fastbreak and Rafiq Brimah added two points of his own. Galaxy led 22-15 after 3:26 minutes played.
Kaneshie’s James Okoye completed a three point play. Galaxy got points off jumpers from Brimah and Muhulis Futa. Communication on defence broke down on both teams later on as Galaxy’s Clinton Adjei scored off an uncontested offensive rebound while Stanley Johnson was left wide open to bury a jump shot. Galaxy led 30-20 at the end of the first half.
Okoye scored three points and assisted Bright Assin’s shot. Galaxy’s Addai scored a jumper and Futa and Brimah scored three pointers. With 4:20 minutes left, Galaxy led 38-25.
Kaneshie scored points from the free throw line with Okoye burying two and Webber completing a three point play and adding two more free throws.
Affram responded for Galaxy with back to back baskets and Quartey tipping in a missed shot. Okoye completed a three point play and Affram converted one of two free throws to give Galaxy a 50-36 third quarter lead.
The final quarter got off to a flying start with Webber delivering an athletic block on Quartey but hurt himself in the process and had to leave the game. Samuel Akakpo and Addai scored for Galaxy.
Kaneshie’s John Mensah buried a three pointer as his team trailed 40-54 with 6:34 minutes remaining. Webber checked back into the game with 5:34 minutes left.
Galaxy’s Mohammed Brimah scored all three free throws after getting fouled on a three point attempt. Two three pointers from Quartey sandwiched Smith’s three pointer.
Galaxy opted to keep possession and ended up winning 73-53 with Webber scoring the game’s final points.
