University of Ghana (UG) Women’s Basketball Team caused a shock in the just concluded round of games in the 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division.
The team beat Ghana Navy 38-33 in the last round of regular season games played at the Prisons Basketball Court in Cantonments in Accra.
The win however made good on a promise UG Forward Maya Jokebed made about her team’s chances of winning its next league game after a heavy loss to Ghana Police Service. Police is the reigning league champion.
“We would work on our stamina and train even harder to win our next competition” the Forward said after the heavy loss. UG plays Ghana Airforce Turbojets in the next round of games on Wednesday, August 25 at the same venue. (Click highlighted text to watch full interview)
In related news, results in league games in the Men’s Division I involving Ghana Fire Service and Ghana Airforce and Ghana Police Service and Reformers of Prisons are yet to be officially declared since protests have been lodged at the League Board.
