Basketballghana.com can confirm Kenya’s National Men’s Basketball Team (Morans) has touched down in Kigali, Rwanda for the upcoming FIBA AfroBasket.
The 2021 AfroBasket is due to run from August 24 to September 5 at the Kigali Arena with 16 nations due to compete in the 30th edition of the tournament.
This is the first time in 28 years Kenya will play at the continental championship after making history during the qualifiers held earlier this year by beating 11 time AfroBasket winners Angola.
Head Coach Liz Mills became the first Female Head Coach to lead a national men’s team to a major competition at the senior level.
Kenya sealed qualification to the AfroBasket by beating Angola in the qualifiers; the East African nation is drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Mali and Ivory Coast.
The top nations in each of the four groups qualify automatically to the next round while the second and third placed teams engage in a qualification round of games.
