Basketballghana.com can confirm the roster for Senegal’s National Men’s Basketball Team to compete at the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket has been named.

This year’s Championship is the 30th edition in the competition’s history and runs from August 16 to August 30 in Kigali, Rwanda with 16 nations due to compete.

Tunisia is the reigning champion after beating Nigeria in the 2017 edition that was co hosted by Tunisia and Senegal. The upcoming tournament is also the first to be held in a four year period instead of two years as before.

Dieng

The 12 man Teranga Lions team is headlined by recently acquired Atlanta Hawks Center/Power Forward Gorgui Dieng; the 6 foot 10 player will compete in his ninth NBA season after the tournament.

He was drafted by Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA Draft and has since played for Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs.

Senegal beat Rwanda 87-60 in a friendly game played this past week and has arrived in Rwanda for the tournament. The team is in Group D with Cameroon, debutant South Sudan and Uganda.
