The 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I matchup between Ghana Police Service and Reformers of Prisons lived beyond expectations as folks were treated to an exciting basketball game.

With the game ending in regulation tied at 72, controversy brewed as Police argued for the game to be declared a draw while Reformers pushed for the game to be played out in overtime with both teams referring to the FIBA rule book.

Police officially lodged a protest to the ABL Board and didn’t play in overtime leading to a deadlock and a winner not officially declared.

However, either side had the chance to win the contest in regular time but missed it; Police Shooting Guard Benjamin Omari was sent to the free throw line with just a second left in the game and the tied at 72 but missed both.

Three possessions earlier, Prisons Guard Andrews Ayienab turned the ball over with his team up by four; Police Guards Emmanuel Dickson and Elvis Pobi-Siaw scored to tie the game before Omari got fouled on a late drive to the basket
