Basketballghana.com can confirm Nigerian International Chimezie Metu won’t compete in the 2021 NBA Summer League final game due to a suspension.
The 24 year old Center/Power Forward got suspended in the matchup against Dallas Mavericks after punching Mavericks player Eugene Omoruyi.
Omoruyi fouled Metu hard when the latter attempted a dunk; Metu retaliated by striking Omoruyi and both players were ejected from the game. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
Metu who is on Sacramento Kings team will miss the game against Boston Celtics that is slated to be played out on Wednesday, August 18.
6 foot 9 Metu was drafted into the NBA in the second round by San Antonio Spurs and signed a three year, $4.3 million deal with Sacramento in April.
His offseason was busy as he featured for Nigeria at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games; Nigeria got ousted in the first round after losing all three games to Australia, Italy and Germany.
