Basketballghana.com can confirm Egypt’s National Men’s Basketball team has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda ahead of the team’s participation in the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket.

This year’s AfroBasket runs from August 24 to September 5 with all games to be played at the Kigali Arena; 16 nations will compete for the title.

Egypt arrived in Rwanda on Monday, August 16 and will play two friendly games against AfroBasket host Rwanda on Thursday, August 19 and Saturday, August 21.

The North African nation is in Group B with Guinea, Central African Republic and Tunisia; fellow North African nation Tunisia is the defending champion following its triumph at the last edition held in 2017.

The top team in each of the four groups qualifies automatically to the quarterfinals; the second and third placed teams will compete in another round of fixtures to determine their status.

Rwanda recently returned from Senegal after playing exhibition games against Senegal and Guinea and select teams from both nations in tune up games.
