Rwanda National Men’s Basketball Team Head Coach Cheikh Sarr has stated his team’s upcoming friendly/exhibition games offer a good opportunity for his team to measure itself against some of the best nations in Africa.

He said this ahead of the team’s departure to Senegal where Rwanda is expected to play three friendly games against the host nation and Guinea respectively. Rwanda will play Egypt twice after to close out its pre 2021 FIBA AfroBasket run.

The team plays its final exhibition game against Egypt on August 21; Rwanda hosts this year’s African Championship from August 24 to September 5 at the Kigali Arena.

“This is a good opportunity for us to measure our competencies. We have not had the chance to do it here. We did some scrimmage games but going to Senegal will give us an opportunity to play NBA players that are playing in a high level” he said to FIBA.

Rwanda is in Group A with DR Congo, Angola and Cape Verde.
