Head Coach of St. Joseph’s CYO Basketball Club Julius Vifa Kwasitsu has stated the changed format for the Accra Basketball League (ABL) is okay. (Click highlighted text to view story)

The league has drawn teams into groups with clubs battling league sides exclusive to the groups for the 2021 League’s Regular Season. This is sharply different from the previous format where all teams are lumped into a single league standing.

Coach Kwasitsu made this statement during an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com on the sidelines of a training session prior to CYO’s opening game of the season against Ghana Fire Service at 15:30 GMT at the Prisons Court in Cantonments in Accra. “It’s okay for now because of the challenges we are all facing in the country so it’s okay…we should be in the top 4” he said in response when asked about the changed format.

The format was adopted to aid the league to finish on time after a protracted delay due to lingering effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

CYO is in Group A with defending league champions Braves of Customs, Fire Service, Ghana AirForce and Tudu Magic.
