St. Joseph’s CYO Basketball Club’s performance in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Season was “quite okay” according to Head Coach of the Club Julius Kwasitsu.
He made this assertion in an interview with Basketballghana.com on the sidelines of the team’s training session prior to the start of the 2021 season. (Click highlighted text to watch full interview)
CYO gained promotion to compete in the 2019 season by winning the ABL Men’s Division II title and finished in fifth place in Division I but missed out on competing in the playoffs.
Speaking on his team’s performance, Coach Kwasitsu stated, “Normally when a team qualifies from D II to DI, they go there and they are beaten mercilessly…but we placed fifth in that year’s league. It was quite okay.”
CYO will compete in this season’s league in Group A alongside Braves of Customs, Ghana Fire Service, Tudu Magic and Ghana AirForce. The top two teams in the group progress to the playoffs to play against the top two from Group B.
CYO plays Fire Service on Saturday, July 31 at 15:00 GMT at the Prisons Court in Cantonment in Accra.
