Head Coach of St. Joseph’s CYO Basketball Club has expressed his delight over the cancellation of the 2020 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I due to COVID 19.
He made this statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com during a training session mere days ahead of the team’s opening game for the 2021 season against Fire Service. (Click highlighted text to watch full interview)
The contest tips off on Saturday, July 31 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra at 15:00 GMT; both clubs are drawn in Group A alongside defending ABL Champs Braves of Customs, Ghana AirForce and Tudu Magic.
The 2020 season commenced but was cancelled after a few round of games were honoured due to the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. However, Coach Kwasitsu pointed out he was happy the league got cancelled because of his team’s ill preparation.
“That season I will say we didn’t prepare very well for that particular league so I was even happy when it was cancelled because if you watched our game against Tema Youth, they beat us mercilessly. Because normally we prepare and then we play friendly matches before the start of the league, but that season we couldn’t even play a single match” he said.
CYO plays Fire Service on Saturday, July 31 at 15:00 GMT at the Prisons Court in Cantonment in Accra.
