Basketballghana.com can confirm the 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Season will commence on Tuesday, July 27 at the Prisons Basketball Court in Cantonments, Accra.
The upcoming season was tagged tentatively with a July 27 start date but per reports reaching Ghana’s leading basketball portal indicate the tag has been replaced with a substantive one.
This means league games will commence close to the end of this month as earlier stated by ABL Director Alex Kukula in an interview Basketballghana.com earlier this month.
Games in the Men’s Division I, Men’s Division II and Women’s Division respectively; a different format is to be used to determine division winners for the upcoming campaign. (Click highlighted text to view story)
The new format was proposed and accepted by stakeholders of the league in a meeting held recently as the best means to complete the season due to the lingering effects of COVID 19 in Ghana.
Until league personnel (referees, players, administrators, coaches) got vaccinated, the league couldn’t commence; the vaccination program wrapped up earlier this month-July 1 to July 3.
