Basketballghana.com can confirm Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike’s s quest to compete for Nigeria at the Tokyo Olympic Games have been denied again.

The duo appealed to the Court of Arbitration in Sports (CAS) over Basketball world governing body’s (FIBA) decision to prevent them from representing Nigeria in Tokyo.

FIBA ruled against Nneka due to her substantial involvement with USA winning two World Cup Gold medals. Chiney was ruled out from playing for Nigeria since FIBA considered her a naturalized player but each team is allowed just one spot and that spot was already taken.

Both players appealed the FIBA ruling at CAS but were unsuccessful in their quest but Erica Ogwumike has not had any problems integrating into the team.

The third Ogwumike sibling has been named to the roster for Nigeria’s Women’s National Basketball Team (D’Tigress) to compete in Tokyo. Nigeria is in Group B with USA, France and Japan and plays USA first on July 27.
