Nigeria’s National Men’s Basketball Team (D’Tigers) has lost for the first time in three games as the West African nation continues preparation for the Tokyo Olympics.
D’Tigers lost 69-108 to Australia in the last of its three exhibition games scheduled prior to the Games; Nigeria beat USA and Argentina in the opening two games that caused a lot of excitement for the Africa nation.
After beating defending Olympic Champions USA 90-87 and Argentina 94-71, Nigeria came unstuck against the Aussies as it struggled to score the basket.
Josh Okogie and Obi Emegano were the only players to score in double digits with the pair bagging 10 points apiece in the contest despite Australia resting all of its projected starters.
Chris Goulding led all players in scoring with 21 points in 22 minutes and five members of the Australian roster all ended the game with double digit points.
Nigeria is the only African team at the Tokyo Olympics and is in Group B with Australia, Italy and Germany.
