Basketballghana.com can confirm eight teams will compete in the 2021-2022 Tema Basketball League Season. This was officially communicated by the League Board in an official letter.
The required number of teams were expected to be announced on July 20 but the decision was taken to end the registration process once the target number of teams were met.
Six of the eight registered teams competed in the last campaign held in 2019 with two teams set to make their debut in the league. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the 2020 season was lost with Ghana placing a ban on participation in contact sports like basketball for most part of last year.
2019 Champions Nungua Coldstore, 2019 Finalist Spintex Knights, 2017 League Champs Tema Community 4, Tema Rockets, Tema Community 2 and Sakumono Titans are the returnees.
Tema Community 25 Panthers and Tema Wolves are the newbies who will compete in the exciting league for the first time. The likes of Francophone Stars and Teshie Rangers won’t return to compete in the upcoming campaign.
Coldstore won its third league title by beating Knights in 2019.
