Ghanaian-French International Shooting Guard Yakuba Ouattara is one of several French players playing outside France and is in fact part of France’s largest contingent plying its trade outside the country.
Ouattara plays for Coosur Real Betis in the Spanish Endesa League and is part of 11 players from France who play in the highly rated league.
The 27 year old Guard moved from AS Monaco and played out his first season in Spain with Betis ending in 16th place in the 19 team league standings. Betis recorded 11 wins and 25 losses in the regular season and failed to progress to the playoffs that Barcelona won.
As the backcourt partner of Nick Kay, Ouattara averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 22.3 minutes across 30 games as a starter. He was mainly tasked the defensive duties on the wing. His contract is due to expire in 2022.
The Tepa born 6 foot 3 inch player played six times for France during the 2020-2021 campaign and averaged 10 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18 minutes off the bench.
