Basketballghana.com can confirm Canada’s National Men’s Basketball Team has called up exciting Ghanaian-Canadian prospect Charles Bediako to camp ahead of Canada’s participation in the Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Canada is in Group A alongside Greece and China in the qualifiers that have the top two teams gaining qualification to the next stage to battle the top duo from Group B in the semifinals with the final set for July 4. The winner gains one of four remaining spots in the Tokyo Games.
Bediako recently joined the University of Alabama Men’s Basketball Team as a Student-Athlete picking the Crimson Tide over the likes of Duke University and Arizona State University and Baylor University.
The 6 foot 11 inch Center is expected to see minutes in his freshman year when the 2020-2021 season commences later this year. He was rated as a four star prospect coming out of IMG Academy.
Bediako is a 19 year old who has already represented Canada at the Under 17 and Under 19 World Cups and is getting a shot at competing at the senior due to a number of high profile absences including Tristan Thompson and Khem Birch.
The 19 man roster will get down to 12 with New York Knicks R.J. Barrett and Golden State Warriors Andrew Wiggins headlining the call ups.
