Ben Bentil is officially a player of Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul in the Turkish Premier Basketball League after leaving Greek side Panathinaikos Basketball Club. (Click highlighted text to view story)
Bentil’s exit comes after spending three years in Greece where he won two league titles and the Greek Cup at Panathinaikos. He played his first season in Greece at Peristeri.
Moving to Turkey presents a unique challenge to Bentil as joins a team that finished 12th in the 16 team league standings in the 2020-2021 season with 10 wins and 20 losses.
Having played at a mid table and top team in Greece, the 26 year old would be expected to aid the team win more games and qualify to play in the playoffs. Bentil competed in the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos.
As a top recruit for Bahcesehir Koleji this offseason, the former Providence College player is expected to see an increase in minutes, shot attempts and production.
He averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15 minutes across 30 league games. At Peristeri, Bentil averaged 11.7 points per game.
