Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghan Forward Ben Bentil has departed Panathinaikos Basketball Club after helping the team bag the 2020-2021 Greek A1 Basketball League title.
The 26 year old’s exit ends his two year run at the Athens Club where he won two league titles and the 2020-2021 Season Greek Basketball Cup.
Bentil signed a two year deal with Panathinaikos ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign after leaving fellow Greek side Peristeri Club where he averaged 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds.
In the just ended campaign, Bentil averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15.8 minutes across 30 league games. He averaged 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15.9 minutes in 31 games in the EuroLeague.
The Sekondi native and former Providence College standout saw an uptick in minutes and starting gigs under Coach Oded Kattash who was appointed in January.
Bentil played a key role mainly off the bench in Panathinaikos’s League and Cup double including a 28 points and five rebounds outing in 20 minutes in Game 3 of the League Finals Series against Lavrio. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
