Basketballghana.com gathers Ghanaian-Italian Small Forward/Shooting Guard Awudu Abass is possibly on the verge of leaving Virtus Bologna.
This comes in the aftermath of the 28 year old helping Bologna to win the Italian league title by sweeping Olimpia Milano in the Finals Series. The title is Abass’ second after bagging his first during jis time at Milano in 2018.
According to Italian media outlet ilrestodelcarlino Bologna is willing to let Abass leave should he not accept a lower salary on a new deal with Virtus President Alessandro Pajola stating:
“who-Abass- is ready to exit the contract if the player does not accept an extension to lower figures” to back the report on the situation.
Abass signed a two year deal after joining from fellow Italian side Germani Brescia but the second year of the deal was non-guaranteed. In his first season with Bologna, the former Cantu player largely struggled for playing time but impressed on the defensive side in the playoffs where he started almost all the games.
