Ghanaian-Italian Forward Awudu Abass has labeled the just 2020-2021 Italian Serie A Basketball League season as “the second hardest of his career”.
He said this in the aftermath of winning the league title with Virtus Bologna in his first season; Bologna swept Olimpia Milano in the finals series by winning four straight games to clinch the title.
Abass played for Milano and clinched the 2018 league title with the team but played a peripheral role for the Milan’s club’s run to the title.
Despite playing a starring defensive role in Bologna’s title win, the 28 year old had a difficult time getting extensive playing time earlier on in the season and he indicated this in his statement.
“Let’s say it hasn’t been an easy season. For me maybe the second hardest of my career. But with character, patience and hard work I came out of it. Winning the trust of my Coach and his teammates…you should never let go, with character” he said according to Italian news outlet Sportando.
In 26 League games, Abass averaged 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17.8 minutes.
