Basketballghana.com can confirm the Basketball Africa League (BAL) is to be held in Rwanda for 2022 and 2023 after hosting the inaugural edition last month.

The maiden edition of the NBA-FIBA Africa was held at the Kigali Arena in the East African country from May 16 to May 30 with Egyptian side Zamalek lifting the trophy at the expense of Tunisian’s US Monastir.

However, news has emerged the 2021 host nation will act as host for the next two editions in 2022 and 2023 and this was confirmed by Rwanda’s Minister of Sports Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju.

The veteran Politician stated on Twitter, “Rwanda is more than ready for the two next seasons: BAL 2022 and BAL 2023” when reacting to rumours on the next host nation of the highly regarded competition. (Click highlighted text to view tweet)

Qualifiers for the 2022 edition are slated to commence in October with the number of participating teams (12) expected to be maintained; qualification format for the 2021 is also expected to be maintained for the next editions.
