Basketballghana.com can report Patriots Basketball Club will compete in the Rwandan Basketball League this month after competing in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The Just ended BAL had Patriots finish in fourth place after falling to Angolan side Petro De Luanda in the third place game. Egyptian side Zamalek clinched the title at the expense of Tunisian side US Monastir.
The NBA-FIBA Africa competition was held at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda with 12 teams participating; Patriots raised a lot of eyebrows by signing American Rapper J Cole to its roster. Cole played three games and five points, three assists, a block and five rebounds in total.
By placing fourth, Patriots earned $25,000 in cash prize and turn its attention to defending its league title; the league commences on Friday, June 4 and is due to end on July 10.
Patriots are set to be without Steven Hagumintwaridue to a knee injury suffered while competing in the BAL. J Cole withdrew from the competition to attend to an “obligatory family issue”.
The defending champs take on Shoot 4 Stars Club in the season opener.
