Basketballghana.com can report a pair of world leaders the Basketball Africa League (BAL) quarterfinal game between Rwanda’s Patriots and Mozambique’s Ferroviario De Maputo.

The matchup took place at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda and was the last of the quarterfinal games in the inaugural edition of the NBA-FIBA Africa competition.

Patriots ended with a 73-71 win in front of Rwanda President Paul Kigame and French President Emmanuel Macron; Toronto Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri and BAL President Amdou Fall joined the watch party for the close game.

Patriots Captain Aristide Mugabe led his side to the hard fought win with 18 points on the back of scoring six of nine three point shot attempts.

The home side plays Tunisian side US Monastir in the semifinals slated for Saturday, May 29 following Monastir’s 86-62 win over Senegal’s AS Doaunes.

Zamalek from Egypt and Petro de Luanda from Angola will compete in the other semifinal tomorrow; the competition is scheduled to end on Sunday, May 30.

12 teams representing 12 countries competed in the BAL preliminary stage.
