Basketballghana.com gathers Ghana Gas Company Limited has agreed a sponsorship deal with Wheelchair Basketball Player and Sprinter Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe.
The news was reported in midweek as discussions connected to Ghana’s participation in the upcoming Olympics ramp up; Nkegbe has qualified to compete in Wheelchair sprint events.
Nkegbe becomes the second athlete to be taken under the wing of Ghana Gas with the first being Ghana’s Akwasi Frimpong who competes in the Skeleton-a winter sport.
Per information gathered by Ghana’s biggest basketball portal, the sponsorship package covers cost of preparations for Nkegbe ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
Versatile athlete Nkegbe is the reigning Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sports Personality of the Year following his wonderful exploits over the past year.
By making it to the Olympics, he is the Ghanaian athlete with the most Olympics qualifications under his belt (four); he also won gold medals in Africa and the Desert Challenge in the USA.
In the last held National Unity Games, Nkegbe led then Brong Ahafo Region to first place in the Wheelchair Basketball Men’s category.
