Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghana Forward Ben Bentil is in line to win a second Greek Basketball League title in a row after his Panathinaikos side progressed to the Playoffs final.
Panathinaikos beat AEK Athens 78-71 to clinch the series via a 3-1 win in the All Athens affair in the semifinals of the postseason. Bentil didn’t feature in the game however after delivering 17 points and a rebound in 14 minutes off the bench in Game 2’s 94-83 win for Panathinaikos. (Click highlighted text to watch highlights)
Should Panathinaikos win this year’s title, the team would be crowned champions of Greece for the 39th time; last season’s title win was achieved on the back of leading the regular season standings prior to the onset of the corona virus pandemic.
Bentil is playing out the final days of the two year contract he signed with Panathinaikos after moving from Peristeri Basketball Club in 2019. Aside winning last season’s Greek title, he helped Panathinaikos bag this season’s Greek Cup.
Ioannis Papapetrou led Panathinaikos in Game 3 with 22 points while Mario Hezonja scored 13 points.
