Basketballghana.com gathers American Rapper turned Professional Basketball Player Jermaine Cole (J Cole) won’t compete in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after leaving the competition’s bubble.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the inaugural edition of the NBA-FIBA Africa tournament is being held at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda with limited fans in attendance and teams being accommodated in hotels under strict health and safety protocols.
According to Basketball Writer Marc J Spears, Cole has left the BAL due to a “family obligation” after completing his contract with the Rwanda side. (Click highlighted text to view tweet)
In the aftermath of releasing latest album “Offseason”, Cole caused a stir when he announced his intentions to play in the BAL and subsequently signed a to play for Patriots Basketball Club.
In three games, he registered a total of five points, three assists, five rebounds, a steal and a block in 46 total minutes. His best outing was against Nigerian side Rivers Hoopers where he put up three points, three rebounds and two assists in17:51 minutes.
The BAL commenced on May 16 and is expected to end on May 30.
