Basketballghana.com can confirm Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club has been eliminated from the Basketball Africa League (BAL) competition taking place at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.
The West African side missed out on progressing from Group A via the two automatic spots falling behind Rwanda side Patriots and Tunisian side US Monastir.
Hoopers also fell behind Cameroon’s FAP and Senegal’s AS Douanes in the race to earn the two qualification spots as the third best placed teams ranked at the group stages.
Rivers lost two games but managed to beat Madagascar side GNBC 80-69 in its final game of the FIBA Africa-NBA competition that has 12 teams representing 12 nations on the continent.
US Monastir beat Patriots 91-75 to top Group A with six maximum points and Patriots coming in second with five points. GNBC recorded no wins.
Angola’s Petro do Luanda and Morocco’s AS Sale ranked first and second in Group B while the winner of Group C is yet to be decided as Zamalek plays GS Petroilers later today.
