Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) player Imani McGee Stafford has paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the AKuapem Traditional Area (Okuapeman) Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III.
McGee, who last played in the WNBA for Atlanta Dreams in 2020, visited the Omanhene at his Palace over the weekend as part of activities to mark her visit to Ghana.
Her visit was in collaboration with Impact Youth Ghana that had the sister of three time NBA Champion JaVale McGee present an Atlanta Dream Jersey to the Omanhene.
Prior to the visit, she headlined an all girls basketball clinic held at the Aviation Social Center in Ghana’s capital, Accra. The clinic was held to tutor young female players in multiple aspects of the sport.
Imani is on a two year hiatus from playing professional basketball to pursue a Law Degree; she made the announcement last year. Her visit forms part of Impact Youth’s mission to use sports as a life changing tool for young individuals.
Fellow WNBA player Angel McCoghtry held an all female basketball clinic her she visited Ghana.
