Basketballghana.com can confirm the Basketball Africa League (BAL) game between Egypt side Zamalek and Algeria side GS Petroilers has been postponed.
The postponement was as a result of the organizers measure to fall in with “Health and Safety Protocols” per an official communiqué released in the aftermath of the announcement.
The contest is to be played out on a yet to be determined date at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda where the NBA-FIBA Africa contest is taking place.
The teams recorded mixed results in their respective games in the opening round of the tournament that commenced on Sunday, May 16.
GS Petroilers lost 76-94 to AS Douanes from Senegal while Zamalek beat Mozambique’s Ferroviario do Maputo 71-55; another win could put Zamalek through to the quarterfinals.
12 teams representing 12 nations in Africa are competing in the tournament due to end on May 30 and being played in a bubble due to COVID 19 protocols. Home side Patriots Club has two wins in two games thus far.
