Tunisia’s representative in the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) US Monastir has recorded the biggest win at the ongoing tournament.

Monastir beat GNBC from Madagascar 113-66 in the first game for both teams in the competition taking place at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

The result is the largest recorded in the NBA-FIBA Africa continental tournament being held in a bubble in order to follow COVID 19 Health and safety protocols.

Elly Randriamampionona led the game with 26 points but his efforts proved insufficient as GNBC got blown out by the North Africans who had five players score in double figures.

Further bad news hit GNBC when Cameron Ridley scored 12 points but rolled his ankle and exited the game. Makram Ben Romdhane led Monastir with 23 points.

Home side Patriots takes on GNBC later today and a win could seal its place in the quarterfinal after beating Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers 80-63 in the opening game of the tournament.

Patriots’ American Rapper/ Player J Cole registered three points, three rebounds and two assists in his debut against Hoopers.
