Basketballghana.com can confirm American Rapper J Cole will wear Jersey Number 15 as he competes for Patriots Basketball Club in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

The BAL’s inaugural edition tips off on Sunday, May 16 and is scheduled to end on May 30 with all games taking place at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda. Home side Patriots play Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers in the opening game.

12 teams representing 12 countries on the continent are slated to battle it out for the top spot in the NBA-FIBA Africa continental competition.

J Cole (full name Jermain Cole) surprised many when he decided to be an active player in the tournament to be staged in a bubble due to COVID 19.

Patriots Captain Aristide Mugabe will wear Jersey Number 2; earlier in the week the team trained together for the first time including the multiple time award winning Rapper Cole after completing a four day quarantine.

The opening game tips off at 14:00 GMT. Ghana’s Braves of Customs missed out after failing to progress from the zonal qualifiers.
