Ghana Forward Ben Bentil was instrumental in galvanizing Panathinaikos Basketball Club’s second unit in a blowout win in the opening round of games in the 2020-2021 Greek Basketball League playoffs.
Panathinaikos thrashed Ionikos 102-64 in the first of a three game playoff series with the bench unit outscoring Ionikos’ 56-24 which proved crucial in turning what was a close contest into an easy win. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
Bentil registered 12 points, a block, a steal, two assists and three rebounds in 17 minutes while Konstantinos Mitoglou added 10 rebounds and 18 points off the bench.
Panathinaikos held a 40-39 lead at half time but the introduction of the pair lead to a 69-50 lead at the end of the third quarter in the lead up to a walk in the park fourth quarter for the defending league champions.
6 foot 8 inch Forward Bentil was efficient in the game converting three of four field goal attempts and two three point shot attempts in three tries.
