Basketballghana.com can confirm several teams have commenced team practices after completing quarantine sessions ahead of the start of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The inaugural edition of the BAL runs from May 16 to May 30 and all games are to be played at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda. 12 teams representing 12 countries on the continent have qualified to compete in the tournament.
COVID 19 forced organizers to change the start date from last year and due to safety concerns, the tournament will take place in a bubble.
No fans will attend the games and teams have to quarantine for four days on arrival before engaging in any team activity including having meals. Some teams including Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers and Mali’s AS Police have completed their quarantine sessions and are practicing as a team.
Other teams including home side Patriots Club will complete their sessions later today; Patriots made the headlines earlier this week after reports were confirmed American Rapper J Cole has joined the team and will compete in the tournament as a player.
