Basketballghana.com can report American Hip Hop star J. Cole will play in the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The NBA-FIBA Africa competition takes place at the Kigali Arena, Rwanda from May 16 to May 30 with 12 teams representing 12 nations on the continent set to compete.
Home side Patriots Basketball Club is one of the 12 teams and has been drawn in Group A alongside Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, US Monastir from Tunisia and GNBC from Madagascar.
Earlier today, Rwanda news outlet The New Times reported Cole was rumoured to be heavily interested in signing for the club as one of four foreign based players to compete in the tournament.
A few minutes ago however, NBA reporter Shams Charania confirmed the news stating the Rapper has signed for Patriots and plans to compete in at least three games.
The two top teams in each group of the three groups progress to the next stage alongside the best two third placed teams. The playoff format is via single elimination.
