Basketballghana.com gathers a slew of injuries and lack of production are the reasons behind Ghanaian Power Forward/Center Joel Mensah’s decision to exit James Madison University.

Mensah has entered the transfer portal after spending just a season with The Dukes following his two year run with San Diego State University.

The 6 foot 10 inch player left San Diego due to a lack of playing time but found it hard to compete for a starting berth as he battled injuries throughout the 2020-2021 season.

Mensah played just nine games the past season and started in just two of those games averaging 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 5.9 minutes.

He is one of four players set to leave James Madison after entering their names in the transfer portal; two players have already agreed to fill spots set to be vacated on the team.

Mensah is majoring in Finance and played alongside fellow Ghanaian Nathan Mensah at San Diego State University. Joel is to enter his senior season in the upcoming season.
